Free Timber Certification (TLVS/SVLK)

Timber Legality Verification System (TLVS); or SVLK in Indonesia; serves to ensure wood products and raw materials derived from sources whose origin is unclear and its management meet legal aspects. Legality include the origin of timber, logging licenses, systems and procedures for harvesting, transporting, processing, and trade or transfer of its owner can be proven, and it meets all applicable legal requirements.

Timber from state forests and private forests must obtain a verification of legality. This obligation guarantees the origin of raw material resources. Similarly, in the primary and secondary industries, wood raw material must undergo verification of legality up to the time into wood products. Wood products for export requires a V-Legal Documents. V-legal documents aimed at ensuring that the wood raw material used to make the product the wood comes from legal sources.

In conclusion, the Timber Legality Verification System or SVLK is a tracking system that multistakeholder arranged to ensure the legality of the timber being circulated and traded in Indonesia. TLVS/SVLK developed to encourage the implementation of government regulations related to trade and the distribution of forest products that are legal in Indonesia.

SVLK implementing regulations:

• Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry: P.95 / Menhut-II / 2014 on the Assessment of Sustainable Production Forest Management Performance and Verification of Timber Legality for License Holders or in Private Forests.
• Regulation of the Minister of Trade: 66 / M-DAG / PER / 8/2015 on the export of forestry industry products.
• Regulation of Director General of Forestry Enterprises: P. 14 / VI-BPPHH / 2014 About Standards and Guidelines on Assessment of Performance of Sustainable Production Forest Management (SFM) and Timber Legality Verification (VLK).
• Circular of the Director General of Forestry Enterprises: SE.14 / VI-BPPHH / 2014 on the Obligations Implementation of Timber Legality Verification System.

In the implementation of SVLK, timber certificate can be obtained for free according to the rules:
